people often mistake what i feel about lando so here is a post clearing that up

some of my acquaintances think i have a silly celebrity crush on him and some just pull into the 'she just watches f1 becasue the drivers are hot' narrative which are both false actually

yes i think lando is pretty look at him look at this boy

but i think its his smile that makes him so pretty its how absolutely genuine he is and sometimes how he says some mean things he doesnt actually mean but you can see how much of an whatever he says has on the people around him i love his relationship with carlos with max with oscar with his team engineers with maxf with penelope with his family and how he in general treats the people around him how he holds himself accountable (sometimes too much) for the mistakes he makes on track and tries to get better its how much he has been loyal to this one singular team since the beginning of his career and now he's winning but still acknowledges the teams part in it so often and his champagne pops and his little expressions how he celebrates and laughs and smiles and talks and giggles and smirks and wheezes and its all so honestly pretty

hes not my crush hes my comfort person i admire him so much

but he's also my baby i birthed him if anything bad happened to him (god forbid) i would be so incredibly sad i wish him all the happiness and success he wants i'm rooting for him to win wdc in 2025 i want him on the podium again next year i hope he gets a fast car with good balance

miami was the first race i watched that got me into this beautiful sport in 2024 i saw him win for the first time, took one look at him and decided okay yes im going to care for that person now which is weird because i dont even like some of the people i know in real life that much like how can i care so much about someone who doesnt exist but theres something about looking at his gifs and videos that gives me such happiness like yes i want to see more of this pathetic little boy smiling give it to me

Oscar has a pretty smile, Lando notices. It stretches all over his soft features and makes his eyes crinkle, sharp teeth poking out from underneath his top lip. Lando’s eyes narrow as he lets his gaze wander over Oscar. From his brushed back hair, over his pale skin down to the white linen shirt peeking out underneath the heavy cape. 

“Cool costume,” Lando smirks. “Very chic. For a vampire.” 

Oscar chuckles a little dryly and starts staring at his shoes. “Thanks, mate,” he says then. “I’m serious,” Lando reassures him and Oscar looks up again. “It looks good. Especially the, uh,” he loosely gestures towards Oscar’s face, cheeks reddening underneath the facepaint. “Your teeth. They look very real.”

Something in Oscar’s look shifts. Just slightly, if even. Lando thinks he imagined it, blames it on the addictingly sweet drinks and Oscar’s pretty smile. But then Oscar cocks his head, eyebrows raised. “You think so?” He asks. And he smiles, open-mouthed, white teeth on full display. Oscar even has the audacity to dart his tongue out, swipes it over the pointy canine and Lando is – well, Lando feels fucking mesmerised during all that. 

And it’s a strange feeling. Like he’s giving in to something and he’s not sure if he likes it.

GREAT question anon 🧡🧡🧡 honestly the thing about me is that every wip i have is kind of my dream 814 fic because i work from a "i guess i have to make it if i want it to exist 😔" perspective and less from any innate desire to force my poor writing onto people. so my dream landoscar fic is kind of my current wip but Better 💔

lately i've just been in the mood for like longer, unapologetically tropey, maybe more understated fic where it doesn't have to be super intense/romantic to be memorable! some of my fav tropes + narrative styles are found family and alt reality (e.g. one person is still a driver or they have different jobs in the f1 world), so that's what i'm working on rn (oscar's precocious karting daughter meets futurefic lando who's unconsciously torn between his attachment to his current lifestyle as an f1 driver and his desire to finally have a family to call entirely his own T__T)

another thing about me is that I LOVE UNCONVENTIONAL MIXED MEDIA FIC!!! but i'm really bad at writing social media dialogue and i actually just really like coding html elements from scratch for the sole purpose of inserting it into a fic. i don't even know what the plot would be though.......

magical realism fic where everyone on the grid has powers, lando's is considered dangerous/volatile and is strongly linked to his emotions so he's been wearing a suppressor his whole life whereas oscar's has a beneficial/healing property and he doesn't need to suppress it (basically its effect on people around him is linked to the intensity of his feelings for them). lando who is usually clumsy and prone to bumping into things and randomly hurting himself, again in part from the longterm effect of having to essentially lock away the piece of himself that balances him out to conform to society, is prancing around like wow is it just me or has my luck been reallyyyy good lately? 🥺 while oscar is clenching his fists to the side telling himself to be normal. meanwhile alex whose power is that he can See Auras is like wow you bitches are BRIGHT PINK!!!!!! and is always making fun of them. you get the gist

my beloved babygirl aka f/f 234 + 814...!!! i've had this draft for a million bazillion years but it's really a lesbian lando character study, and delves a lot into her insecurities and how she's grown into herself as a person, from a little baby prude to a self-assured pillow princess. there's a lot of like pining after (unattainable!) alex, becoming fwbs, having her heart broken by her when she inevitably meets her hot/stable/emotionally mature golfer bf, and then being like Who TF Is This? when the next girl on the grid is her teammate who has never worn anything stylish in her entire life, and then... yeah. there's a lot more to it but i'll stop there

really the dynamic is about oscar ACTS OF SERVICE........... i think someone should also write a neighbors fic where lando is learning to cook for himself for the first time and keeps nearly setting his kitchen on fire and oscar is like oh my god you are hopeless. and starts bringing him meals. anyway

MAN so i actually have something written outside of what I wrote for the prompt. The prompt probably isn't going to fully carry through, because it's very CUTE but also the Lando that I'm writing is a bit more jaded.

It's so INCREDIBLY fun, because like...this version of Lando is a bit of a dirt bag. He has friends, but he's kinda a jerk to everyone else, he still takes things too personally, he's jaded, can't fucking handle being anything other than first place on the podium. But he's also fucking complacent, lazy, and he's not afraid of his stupid little rookie fucking teammate.

Oscar's fresh-faced and intense and sweet and has this perfect little girlfriend (read: beard) and Lando REMEMBERS what it was like to be like that, and is inherently incredibly jealous but also very not-threatened, because how could he, a 1x (possibly 2x this is still subject to change) WDC be CHALLENGED by a ROOKIE (yes he truly believes this).

And he also just...wants to fuck Oscar. Really bad. But there's also that part of him that's like "no in fact that's terrible of me, it's gross, this is my little baby teammate he's a little wet kitten" and so he's at war with himself.

Meanwhile eventually Oscar's just like "soooo ur hot and I kinda like you?" and then well....hehehehehehe

ANYHOW please appreciate this snippet because...yeah.

And really, the most secret of the reasons that he doesn’t want Oscar Piastri on his fucking team is because he’s Lando’s best wet dream, rolled into one little rookie package. Doesn’t want Oscar Piastri on his team because he wants Oscar Piastri on his dick instead. But Oscar’s got a sweet little girlfriend that he looks at with heart eyes, a sweet little girlfriend who he’ll probably marry in the next three years, who will be a constant fixture in the paddock, will make friends with the other WAGs, and will endear herself to the press.  Lando’s none of those things, and Oscar’s probably not fucking gay. 

There's also a bit about Lando going and having a threesome with a guy who looks like Oscar and a girl who looks like Oscar's girlfriend but that's a secret for another day

This is GREAT. now i wanna get into tennis but oh fuck, new interest scary.” and now im conflicted because i have been scrolling through your blog and this seems like a very fun and sexy sport to be a fan of but also How the Fuck does it work? like what’s the main objective, what’s everyone trying to do? im already a huge f1 fan, and i know the point there is to win grand prix’s and eventually a world championship, but is there a tennis equivalent to that? is it to win Wimbledon? or the Australian Open? Or the US open? WHAT EVEN IS A OPEN. LMAOOO okay this is actually such a fun question and multi-layered

— so if you asked a tennis player I think most of them would give a small-ish goal (relative to their experience. lol)  like some of them are sooOOOoo boring and would just say "I take it one match at a time" blah blah, some players (ons jabeur my beloved) are transparent about wanting to win big tournaments, some players are close enough to being number one in the world that they are allowed to say "I want to be number one in the world" lmao. Being #1 is determined by ranking points btw!! which you earn by winning matches at tournaments on the ATP (men's) or WTA (women's) tour. Each round at a tournament earns you more points, i.e. if you get to the semi-finals you earn more ranking points than if you only get to the round of 16.

— wow that was too many words for a bullet point but basically: if you're good enough, you want to be #1 in the world by ranking points. There are also other goals like: win all majors in a single year (a "grand slam"), win the MOST majors compared to anyone else (djokovic holds the record currently at 24), etc.

— ATP/WTA tournaments happen at different levels, which affects how many ranking points are earned and how much money you get in prizes. At an ATP 250 you win 250 points for winning the final, at an ATP 500 you get 500, etc. At the Grand Slam tournaments you get 2000 (!!) points and, like, SOOooooo much money for winning. 

— There are four Grand Slam tournaments: in chronological order you've got the Australian Open (January), the French Open (also called Roland-Garros, it happens in May/June), Wimbledon (July), and the US Open (August/September). 

— "Open" means that the competition is open to professionals and amateurs, so a lot of the tournaments are called [name of city] open or [name of sponsor] open

^ Wimbledon is ✨ SACRED✨. it has a bunch of strange/archaic rules that are taken very seriously (players have to wear white, silence during play is ENFORCED in capital letters, etc) and its history is vaunted & special ! as a result there is a lot of weight to winning wimbledon for a lot of people, like wimbledon is special even amongst tennis players. it's the only grass major and the grass season is SHORT so you have to find your feet real damn fast. of course there's some backlash to the weird mystical atmosphere of wimbledon which is also fun to watch .. kyrgios being an smarmy asshole about it and (maybe?) getting fined for example .. but honestly it's rightfully criticised for being a stick in the proverbial mud,,  speaking of mud ... 

^ the French Open is ✨BEAUTIFUL✨. it's a clay tournament, which means play is slower, and just .. the look of clay ... idk it punches me in the chest tbh not sure why. players slide around and get dirty and it's all so fun & lovely & GORG . clay season is my personal favorite season

^ the US Open is ✨FUN✨. it's in New York City (ayyyyyyooo) and the crowd is ROWDY in a way that is truly unparalleled, you can't beat the atmosphere for party-esque but some players (a lot of players) haaaaaAAaate it. Some people love it tho, Serena always loved it, Coco fricken adored it (helps if you're american LOL)

^ the Australian Open is .. uh, hm. Happy? tbh I miss most of the AO every year because it's in an exactly opposite time zone from me. it's like a warm-up slam. LOL SORRY. somebody can correct me if they feel strongly ... >.>  it's also called the happy slam, it has a huge turn out every year so it must be fun!! play is very quick. jannik won this year :)))))))))))

"What's a drop shot"

— SooooOOO now we're getting into actual play jargon ... basically different shots have different names, forehand is when you hit a ball with the palm of your dominant hand facing forward, backhand is when your palm faces your chest ... I won't describe every shot because probs a video is more helpful for that? but:

— a drop shot is a ball hit so that it drops very close to the net on your opponent's side. basically if your opponent is waaaaay at the back of the court (maybe you've been rallying for a while and they got comfy) you can try and hit a ball short so that they can't get to it before it bounces twice. it's risky!!! if you attempt a drop shot you're probably pretty close to the net: if your opponent DOES get to it and hit it back, they're probably going to hit it behind you, and you won't have time to run behind it to get a racket under it.

"what are the defining characteristics of a good player"

— WOOF. okay. speed, for sure. but fast-twitch speed: can you get to the ball quickly? can you react to where it lands on the court and how it pops up? once you've hit it, can you get back into position before it comes back to you two seconds later? if you're up close to the net because you attempted a drop shot and your opponent gets to the ball & hits it behind you, can you back up real fast and attempt a "tweener" (when you hit a ball backwards through your legs) ? etc. You have to do a lot of movement around a small-ish space quickly, tennis players do a lot of short, high-intensity practices to prepare — athleticism!! tennis is an all-body sport:  do you have the lungs to keep running for a three hour match? do you have the leg strength to keep you jumping around that long? do you have the shoulders for a strong serve, arms for big ground-strokes?  (tennis players are fucking HOT lmao)

— creativity ! you can have the best arms ever and still lose because you play the same shot over and over and over and over and over and your opponent learns this and hits something that throws you off your rhythm. The best players (and most interesting to watch) can play far from or close to the net, are trying new things, are HAVING FUN (carlos alcaraz e.g.) 

— elegance ... idk some players just float .. they do all of the above but make it look so EASY

— no, valid. basically this tumblr post about how every so often there's a new tennis guy and I'm like "wait, who?" . I think everyone on tennisblr picks their faves and follows them closely, and then depending on your level of interest you pick up other faves along the way??  I got into tennis in the federer/nadal era so I'm a federer girl, in the WTA I'm smitten for serena (who isn't) with almost equal soft spots for Naomi Osaka and Ash Barty. Nowadays I follow jannik sinner like i'm a dog who's found a weird lanky carrot-flavored bone. i follow alcaraz because he's beautiful to watch, truuuuuly beautiful. i follow daniil medvedev because he's inSANE and a cunt but fun about it. I follow iga sviatek (my love) and coco gauff (my love [american]) because they're incredible and fun, ostapenko because she's ridic, muchova because she hits so pretty, daria because I want her to marry me <3

— just on the subject of relating things to f1: the one thing that I really miss in tennis now that I've been following f1 for a bit is how the idea of a "team" just doesn't really exist. tennis players play doubles sometimes but even on a doubles team you're really playing for yourself, you don't get team support, that's not really a thing?? if you're a really good singles player you prioritize singles play, and often you play across the net from your doubles partner and obviously in that case you want them to lose??? like to a greater extent than f1 drivers want their teammate to lose, because tennis is truly zero-sum in a way that f1 isn't, quite.  this makes all tennis players feel kinda lonely and anti-social LOL and uhhh sometimes they actually are I think, like a lot of tennis players are super introverted and strange. i'm sure you see this in other sports this is just me comparing my two obsessions

Landoscar age gap future fic. Takes place 10 years in the future. Lando’s 35 and Oscar’s his new rookie teammate.

Lando has an attitude problem a mile wide, is a teammate killer and not in the fun Max and Charles way. He’s entitled and believes he deserves things on the team handed to him, and then along comes Oscar.

The fic is essentially Oscar putting Lando in his place on track even though it’s his first year, meanwhile Lando puts him in his place through sex. (Essentially Lando corrupts his sweet baby teammate but also his teammate gets one up on him).

It’s hot and fun and I love EVERYTHING I’ve written for it, it’s just back-burnered rn.

It has the most unrealistic ending but that’s Important TM for the fic.
